A long awaited delight

Mrs Smart has waited a long time to give her Victorian terrace in Bristol a new door, “I’ve wanted to change the door since we moved in 25 years ago as a lot of the houses here had ill-suited uPVC replacement doors installed.”

“When I retired, I had a little financial boost so decided it was time to treat myself!”

The transformation from the dated and ageing uPVC door to the new timber door is spectacular, and Mrs Smart is delighted with her choice, “I was quite a long way toward buying a composite door, and this was the main type I’d researched, but they really did look artificial. I made a visit to the Timber Windows showroom, and just kept going back to one of the display doors in French Grey, so I knew it had to be that.”

A Kingston door in French Grey with Off White frame and Townhouse locking system in Engineered European Redwood was selected. Daisy Green decorative glazing on a Kathedral patterned glass is applied to the door itself, whilst an arched top light carries Satinovo patterned glass and etched house number. A chrome Doctor’s door knocker, escutcheon and letter plate finish off this stylish door.

“It’s a beautiful piece of architecture, inside and outside; I absolutely love it” Mrs Smart says, “I still feel excited when I come home to it! The house is on a fairly main road, and I have noticed how much the new door cuts out the traffic noise, draughts and pollution. I hope to return the plastic windows to timber sashes in the future too.”
