Evergreen Cottage

Case studies

Pictured is a Cottage with lipped casement windows and Stratfield style entrance door with Georgian bars from the Optimal Range, finished in Sage Green Ral:6021.

The original windows where not much more than five years old cost a lot of money, unfortunately they where made using old fashioned joinery techniques that allowed them to twist and swell, so they used to jam shut in the winter, shrink and become drafty in the summer, they also required constant redecoration and maintenance. The excessive force required to open the windows and doors meant that the handles would snap off and break, the door would swell up and stick in the wet weather. The standard double glazing was not particularly efficient and had started to go misty between the panes due to a lack of ventilation channels that prevent against the failure of double glazing. The glazing bars where quite large and heavy looking too.

Mr & Mrs G are now very happy with their low maintenance high performance windows and entrance door with slim glazing bars. They are also looking forward to a 45% increase in energy savings compared to the old windows, they are also looking forward to re decorating the windows and door in around 8 year’s time so they will continue to look as good then as they do now.
